The fact that Pacific Poker is one of the best online poker rooms around is unfortunately sometimes overshadowed by its reputation for attracting low-limit players who are generally pretty bad, to put it nicely. However, depending on your goals and what you're looking for, this could be seen as an advantage or disadvantage and when combined with the other strengths of the site, we think the case is strong for a visit to Pacific Poker. In fact, we think the site is so strong, that we've placed it in our top-5. Part of the giant Casino-on-Net family, Pacific Poker is known for killer promotions, high levels of traffic, and, yes, some pretty soft games. We don't feel, however, that this is necessarily a bad thing. The presence of loose games as high as even the $30/$60 range translates into some pretty lucrative action for most players. Add to that a great customer support, some of the fastest and easiest payouts in the industry, cool statistics functions, and great loyalty bonuses and sweepstakes, and you've got a pretty stellar site. In general, and in contrast to a site like Paradise Poker the players at Pacific aren't among the industry's best when the stakes are low and this happens often. Also, the software is a bit weak when compared to other rooms situated high in our rankings; a major weakness we think is the inability to play multiple tables. Yet, these negatives shouldn't dissuade you from visiting - we still feel this is a great site overall and for more some pretty important reasons and factors. If you're just starting out and want to ease into the poker world by playing in a non-intimidating setting which doesn't overwhelm, Pacific Poker, if it's not the best, is certainly a GREAT place to begin your poker experience. But, if you're a more advanced player or looking to play at some higher-limit tables than $0.25-0.50, it might be a good idea to check out other destinations more suited to your needs and tastes. Don't get us wrong though - Pacific Poker does have high-limit tables and they're pretty good. Yet, overall, players at Pacific ordinarily prefer smaller bets and the traffic and type of player the site attracts broadly reflects this idea. Nevertheless, Pacific could be an easy ("soft") room for the right type of visitor and, in the end, has something for everyone. We suggest keeping it on your list.
